Textile 21's latest exhibition is entitled The Palm House and is opening at Jobling-Gower Solicitors in Macclesfield on the 19th September 2011. It runs until the 4th November and there is a private view on Thursday 22nd September 6pm to 8pm.
The work on display is all inspired by the Palm House at Sefton Park but each of the members has interpreted it in a different way.

“RETROSPECTIVE- Textile 21 ten years on” an exhibition of textile art from the first decade of the new millennium.

Textile 21 celebrates its 10th anniversary with a retrospective exhibition at Studio Art Gallery, Warrington from Friday 6th May to Saturday 4th June.

Textile 21 is celebrating its 10th anniversary by staging its first retrospective exhibition at Studio Art Gallery. The group has exhibited all over the country but has chosen Studio Art Gallery in Warrington to hold this special exhibition. Three of its members live in Warrington and this is the first time the group has exhibited in the town.
The textile art in the exhibition will celebrate the diversity of its current and former members and will also showcase work from each year of the decade.

The exhibition will run from Friday 6th May to Saturday 4th June 2011 at Studio Art Gallery, 250 Wilderspool Causeway, Warrington, WA4 6QP. Opening Time Tuesday to Sat 11am to 5pm. Contact details - Tel:01925 444909 email:info@studioartonline.co.uk
There will be an opening reception with the artists on Thursday 5th May 7.30pm to 9pm. All work is for sale.

Textile 21 is a contemporary textile art group based in the North West whose aim is to raise the profile of textiles as an art medium. Over the past 10 years it has staged exhibitions all over the country and has been featured in national magazines. Some of its members have staged solo exhibition and been awarded prizes. Textile 21 at the Antique Textile Fair March 2011

Textile 21 had a stall at the Antique Textile Fair at the Armitage Centre, Fallowfield, Manchester in March 2011 for the third year running, As usual we created a lot of interest and this year we demonstrated machine embroidery and needle-felting using an embellisher.

Textile 21 visited Sefton Palm House in 2010 in order to do some observational drawing and photography. It was so inspirational that it is going to be a starting point for the new work in 2011 and there will be an exhibition later in the year showing where you can see how each member has interpreted this theme in a different way

The following are images of other work I am planning to exhibit at Bollington Arts Centre- space permitting. I am currently studying for a Diploma in Art and Design so I have been able to experiment in a variety of media. The theme of 'Stitch' has run through my work.

The steel 3D bodice stands about 10 inches high and is nade from 12 pieces of steel - all of which I cut myself with electric shears. I lovingly drilled about 90 holes in the steel and decorated each piece by etching into it and beating it. I them 'stitched' it together using buttons, beads and wire

Textile 21 are holding their next exhibition at Bollington Arts centre, Bollington, Cheshire from the 8th April 2007 to the 27th May 2007. The art centre is open on Sundays from 2pm to 4pm and during other events, For details of opening time contact 01625 574410.

Claire was inspired to create these pieces for the Echoes exhibtion at Norton Priory. Textile 21 visited Norton Priory in October 2005 on a study day. Unfortunately it was raining but Claire ventured into the gardens and was inspired by the architectural beauty of the dying plnts and seed heads.
