Digital Printing onto Fabric

Textile 21 held a digital printing on fabric workshop for their members which was run by Maria Walker and Margaret Steeden.

Two methods of printing onto fabric using a domestic printer/ scanner were demonstrated by Maria and Margaret who had previously attended a workshop run by Ruth Brown.

The first method involves printing onto  a transfer paper called  'Yellow Grid' which you can get from the Crafty Computer Paper Company. The great thing about this paper is that you don't have to flip your image and it does not have a such a plastic feel when ironed onto fabric.

Maria and Margaret also demonstrated how you can print directly onto fabric using a domestic ink jet printer as long as the paper had been prepared with a backing such as A4 sticky labels or freezer paper.
