Inspired by old abandoned mills, Sophie explores the disparity between the delicate decaying structures of old mills and the ever changing technology within the textile industry. This two piece garment designed for Techstyles blends these two aspects to celebrate the technological history of the textile industry. Combining work on a domestic knitting machine and hand finishes, Sophie aims to highlight the importance of both methods in order to challenge people’s perception of textiles.
